When Can I Feed My Baby Mac N Cheese

Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Would you give LO Kraft Mac and Cheese?

We do BLW and right now the ONLY thing that sounds even a little appetizing to me is Mac and Cheese. I'm just wondering, how HORRIBLE would it be to give some to him? Like, awful?? I mean, I can skip it that's NBD. I was just curious.

Also, you can flame me if you like.

Re: Would you give LO Kraft Mac and Cheese?

  • My plan is to give him whatever I eat, when he's ready for it.  So yeah, I would.

  • I might give DD some mac without the cheese, lol, even though I am pretty sure she would LOVE the cheese! I can think of a lot worse to give a baby...

  • I probably never will giver her Kraft M&C....but thats just how I was raised, haha. I never even tried it until college.

But I don't think its horrible to do so

  • DS tried Mac and Cheese. It was homemade, but he loved it. My pedi said cheese is fine to give them. I guess you could give it a try.

  • I personally wouldn't, but I don't buy stuff like that.  If I want mac & cheese, I make it with whole wheat rotini and real cheese.  I would give DD that, and have once already.  She loved it!

    I don't think it's a big deal.

  • I share it with my LO when I'm eating it and she LOVES it.  Lately, it's the only thing that sounds good to me, too.  I think it's a queasy first tri thing!

  • I'm a terrible mother, but I don't want to share my mac and cheese. :) I have a deep love for it, all kinds.  It was the only thing that sounded good to me about 80% of the time when I was KTFU.

I'd probably wait until he is a little older.

Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!

  • I totally would. I give her whatever I'm eating. Today she got corn, tomorrow it could be mac and cheese.

  • I'd probably do Annie's organic Mac and cheese instead. DH wont let me give DS the fun stuff.

  • I <3 you, SB, but I wouldn't feed the stray cat that sh!t in  my garage that blue box swill.

  • No, not Kraft Mac & Cheese, I don't buy it and don't eat myself, but homemade yes.

But I don't think less of anyone if they feed it to their LO's.

  • No, I probably wouldn't.  But I don't think this is flameworthy!!

  • We've done Velvetta Shells and Cheese once and she loved it.

My Mom (who watches DD) is from the old school where the baby can have just about anything. We go rounds because of some of the stuff she feeds her. Anyway, don't feel bad about giving Simon mac and cheese. I am sure my baby has had way worse and she is fine. Wink

  • Mac and cheese is ok to feed your baby. I give DD mac and cheese and she loves it. It's home made, though. I myself don't like the boxed shiz. I make everything from scratch. But I don't see why it would be a problem.

  • Yep. Both my kids love it.

This is a test. This is only a test.

  • Never. It's a personal thing I have against Kraft mac and cheese though. I hate it and think it taste gross. DS will get some of my homemade mac and cheese. Now that is yummy stuff.

  • I would give it to Aidan.

  • I wouldn't for the simple fact that it contains cows milk and babies cannot digest it very well. I am also the type that takes nutritional value into consideration, so I wouldn't consider it healthy enough to give my infant. That's just me, though, so if you're comfortable with it, I guess do it.

  • It's not the healthiest choice, but definitely not flameworthy.

I've been giving my son Annie's white cheddar mac n cheese since he was about 10 months old. It is all natural and he loves it.  Awhile back he asked for Kraft when we were shopping because the macaroni came in the shape of Sponge Bob, so I bought it.  He hated it!

Cows milk is ok if it is in cheese or yogurt. Actually it is recommended that you give LO cheese and yogurt starting at 6 months now. Cows milk itself is not allowed until LO is 1. The reason people get so bent out of shape about introducing cows milk in products is because they don't want you to think it's ok to replace formula or BM with cows milk. https://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/tipYogurt.htm

  • The worst that can happen is your DS will grow a 3rd arm....No biggie! Oh wait, that's if you eat lunch meat while pregnant. Go for it, SB!

  • I would.

I keep hearing that yogurt and cheese are okay for 6 months and up, but we went to the pedi yesterday and she said hold off until 9 months.

  • At this point...no, I wouldn't give DD mac and cheese since she is new to solids but your LO is older.
